Sharing the 1/3 (or perhaps 1/4) mark of my healthy weight gain journey on a plant-only clean diet (i.e., no dairy, eggs, meat). I have gained about 8-9 kgs of weight (mostly muscle) starting from a very low point of 47 kgs (with a height of 5 11″). I am seeing a lot of other benefits apart from the weight gain: strength has improved tremendously (I can see it in my exercise volumes), super energetic through out the day, sleeping like a baby, and seeing improved flexibility too.
Thanks to my coach Preeti Jain for various reasons:
(1) She is a holistic health coach. It isn’t just a weight gain/loss journey via macros, she shoots for overall long term health via a nutritious diet, sleep, movement. And she keeps learning, tries to discern truth from myths, and keeps her mentees informed.
(2) She understands and shares my reasons for doing this on a plant-only diet. And I value this a lot.
(3) She isn’t doing this program for any specific reason, it isn’t about the number of mentees or reaching a certain stage in fitness coaching. She is doing this to genuinely help others. Her mentees matter a lot to her, and she gets too deep into the weeds with us. This is truly her passion/ purpose.
(4) The journey wasn’t easy and she helped me solve various issues. For example, I had hot flashes and she gave me simple but very effective natural/ home-based solutions to fix those. There were other hurdles (much more major), which would have stopped any progress from occurring, but we overcame that (I will skip the details here).
